Thanks to the high difference in grade levels and the addition to having bilingual classes with students of different English speaking levels, we were able to get a wide and great understanding of how elementary school kids learn, think and produce art. We are also able to take this more unique clinical experience and use if for when we become educators ourselves and have our own classrooms in the future.

One of the two lesson plans we created was a leaf painting inspired by Jackson Pollock. We had students pick a cutout leaf for them to tape down to their paper, and use various methods and tools to paint their paper. The goal of the project was to have students learn new ways to paint and to paint freely and flowingly without worrying too much on how it will turn out. The final products would have a clean unpainted spot that is the outline of their paper leaf that is outlined by the rest of their paint.

Unfortunately our last clinical day was on a day where the school had a field trip to an ISU basketball game and we were unable to see our student's dried and finished paintings (which we hope to revive photos soon), as well as introduce the students to our second project, which was water color jelly fish.
